Brigadier General Solomon Inuwa, the current Provost of the Nigerian Army College of Education (NACOE), is an aborigine of Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
He was commissioned in 1993 as a member of the Nigerian National Guard Course 1, and subsequently demobilised into the Nigerian Army and posted to the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps (NAIC). Since commission, he has attended several courses. These include Young Officers Course Intelligence, Young Officers Course Education, Tactical Intelligence Course, Security Investigation Course, Police Administration and Security Management Course, Intelligence Detachment Commanders Course and Nigerian Army Education Corps Executive Management Course. Similarly, he attended the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) Foundation Course, Advanced Stabilization and Reintegration Course as well as the United Nations Staff Officers’ Course, all at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre Ghana. He was also privileged to attend the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) Planning Course at the Norwegian Defence International Centre, Oslo, Norway, 2015.
His academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Maiduguri (1991), a Master of Science Degree in Sociology from the University of Jos (2006) and a Master of Art Degree in International Peace Studies from the United Nations mandated University for Peace San Jose, Costa Rica (2009). He also bagged a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Sokoto and Ilorin respectively. In addition, he also earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Science Research and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Peace Studies from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom, in 2013 and 2017 respectively. His areas of research interest include the political economy of armed conflict, disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration of ex-combatants, post-conflict peacebuilding and reconstruction as well as conflict theory and critical security studies. Over the years, he has held several appointments. Some of which are Commandant Command Secondary School Kaduna from January 2019-January 2020). The Provost was also a Senior Defence Fellow and Head of Department, Defence, Security and International Studies at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru Jos, 2020, before joining the Senior Executive Couse 43 at the Institute. On completion of the Senior Executive Course in 2021, he was appointed Director of History Research and Archives at the National Defence College (NDC), where he served from January to August 2022. Before he assumed duty as Provost NACOE, he was Desk Officer Tertiary Education Trust Fund at the Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna and was simultaneously appointed Senior Lecturer at the Department of Defence and Security Studies.
